Sample instructional plan response


The instructional plan sample was really well done. The learning activities directly reflected what the learning outcomes were meant to be. The key to a successful instructional plan is to ensure that the learning goals are correctly accomplished using the correct learning activities. The teacher used a variety of teaching methods. She used group work, peer work, and individual work. All these methods are there to ensure that every child is given a chance to learn properly and it helps the teacher correctly assess the student. Using a rubric is definitely a great way to assess students however, in addition, I would make sure to watch children throughout their peer and individual work to assess where they are holding. The instructional plan definitely did include learning theories since the teacher made sure to use various steps to help aid the students through their learning process. Slowly step by step the students were eased into their learning and finally they were able to master their skills.

    Great point to bring up about observing the students. A tremendous amount can be learned just from watching them.

1.       Explain the three levels of words and how you can use word levels to decide which words to teach. Familiar words- that don’t  have to be taught. Frequent words-words that come up often in texts and I different contexts which should be taught.
